The Waterland Blog’s Scott & Theresa Schaefer

The Waterland Blog is a truly local, independent, family-run ‘hyperlocal’ news website covering Des Moines since 2008, and provided free to Readers thanks to much-appreciated advertising support from our great local business community.

We appreciate all our Readers and Advertisers, and are seeking to expand our coverage of Des Moines and south King County.

Of course, like many small businesses, we have been hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected our advertising revenue. So we’re asking for your support.

If you value our local coverage, please consider supporting us at a level that makes sense for you, and remember that you can cancel at any time. We have partnered with PressPatron to make it easy for you to contribute on a monthly basis, or a simple one time donation (just click the red “Become a supporter” button below). Whatever amount or frequency you choose (even a one-time, $1 buck donation helps!), it’s all good, and it will help us keep our pixels updating with the most current and relevant hyperlocal coverage of Des Moines news, politics, arts, business, crime, COVID-19 news, events and more.

The Waterland Blog is managed by Scott and Theresa Schaefer, who’ve lived in the area since 1995, have raised two children, been involved in local communities supporting numerous non-profits, arts and community events and fundraisers to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars of in-kind sponsorships over 12+ years in business.

#COVID19 is impacting businesses across our state, including local newspapers. But the work of journalists bringing us timely, accurate information is more important than ever.

If you can, please consider becoming a subscriber to your hometown paper or supporting local radio.
