Opening Day is this Saturday, June 3 for the Des Moines Waterfront Farmers Market!
Joining our many regular vendors will be some new ones and the now famous Food Truck-In, with lots of delicious menus to choose from. And, don’t forget to taste and pick up your supply of Farmers Market Waterfront Red and White wines for your summer BBQs. There will be wine specials to entice you to splurge for a good cause.
Market Sponsor Seattle Southside recently held their annual tourism symposium. Market Manager Rikki Marhol and Board President Wayne Corey were honored to receive the Tourism Ambassador Award of the year on behalf of all the great people that help bring the market to our community. There will be a community information booth right next to the market’s information booth. Volunteers will be handing out brochures, flyers, etc. on the events happening in our fair city. Look for the Highline Music4Life program at this booth; they are collecting used musical instruments for refurbishing to give to Highline School students who are not able to afford them.
Music on opening day will be Note-Ables.
Food Truck-In vendors: Buns on Wheels, Charlies Buns N Stuff, A Fire Inside, Jemil’s, Kiss my Grits, Nibbles, NOSH, Sweet Bumpas.
Community Groups you will find this Saturday: Mt Rainier Pool, Seattle Sounders S2, Seattle Southside, MRHS (football team).

The Des Moines Arts Commission will present new sculpture for the marina and the city.
Seniors don’t forget that the market and the King Conservation District, along with partner Sound Generations, are offering the HYDE Shuttle providing local door to door transportation to the market to seniors 55 and older and people with disabilities of all ages living in Des Moines, Normandy Park, Burien and Sea-Tac. Market Sponsor Judson Park Retirement Community will be holding a Resident Foundation Pancake Breakfast before the market opens on June 4th from 8am to 11am at 23600 Marine View Dr in Des Moines. All proceeds benefit the Judson Park Resident Foundation General Fund. There is a minimum suggested donation of $4 for children 10 and younger and $8 for those over 10.
Don’t forget to get your application for the Clutter to Cash sale on June 25th. You can sell all that odd ball stuff you have been moving from one side of your garage to the other. The 25 booth spaces are starting to fill up, so we are encouraging people to sign up early. The space fee is $20 and you must provide your own tables, chairs, etc. You can sign up at the information booth or download the application from our web site.
