The City of Des Moines will host a community shredding event on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Des Moines Activity Center (map below).

This event is open to all residents.

Accepted items include paper such as receipts and bills, file folders, envelopes, bank statements and canceled checks.

Staples are OK.

Items not accepted are cardboard, newspaper, boxes, X rays and plastic.
