I’m excited to be running for Des Moines City Council, Position 5. I believe Des Moines is a wonderful community with so much potential ahead, and I want to help ensure our city grows responsibly, remains financially strong, and continues to be a safe, vibrant, and welcoming place for all families.

I’m a scientist, entrepreneur, and father of two young boys. I founded IVYX Scientific, a global supplier of laboratory and medical equipment, and serve as Vice President of the Des Moines Legacy Foundation, a nonprofit that supports youth programs, the arts, and underserved residents. Through both business and community work, I’ve learned to listen, collaborate, and find balanced, practical solutions — skills I’ll bring to City Hall.

Since launching my campaign in May, I’ve met so many of you at community events, neighborhood gatherings, and volunteer activities. Whether at the Farmers Market, the Waterland Parade, or just walking around our beautiful city, people have shared concerns about safety, transparency, and the city’s finances, as well as their hopes for what Des Moines can become. I’m ready to turn those conversations into action.

My campaign focuses on three priorities:

  • 1️⃣ Building a safe and welcoming city for young families — advocating for more parks, playgrounds, sports fields, and after-school programs so children can thrive and parents feel supported.
  • 2️⃣ Stabilizing the budget and creating new sources of revenue — restoring financial stability by revitalizing our downtown and waterfront, supporting small businesses, and responsibly expanding our tax base.
  • 3️⃣ Protecting our unique environment — preserving our six miles of Puget Sound coastline and forests through better monitoring, recycling, and sustainable infrastructure.

Equally important, I believe in transparency and engagement. Residents deserve open communication, clear financial information, and leaders who listen. I’ll continue to meet regularly with community members and keep residents informed every step of the way.

Des Moines is a city with so much to be proud of, a waterfront community with small-town warmth and big opportunities. Together, we can ensure its future is strong, sustainable, and family-centered. I would be honored to earn your vote by November 4th.
