Inkfish Gallery in Des Moines will open a new art exhibition titled “Creatures of the Deep” on Saturday, Dec. 20, featuring works inspired by marine life from local artists George C. Scott and Fred Andrews.
The exhibition will open with a public reception from 2 to 5 p.m. at Inkfish Gallery, located at 22220 7th Avenue South (map below).
The event is free and open to the public.
According to Inkfish Studios, the exhibition highlights artistic explorations of marine themes in a variety of media. Scott is a world renowned glass artist whose work has been commissioned, collected and exhibited internationally. In Des Moines, Scott is known for the public sculptures Octavia on Marine View Drive and Marinascope in South Marina Park.
Andrews is a multidisciplinary artist whose paintings, photographs, collages and sculptures have been exhibited and published internationally. His sculpture titled Sparky on 227th Street is part of the City of Des Moines public art collection.
Guests attending the opening reception will also enjoy live jazz guitar music by Ron Peters.
The exhibition and opening event are supported by the Des Moines Legacy Foundation, the Inkfish Foundation and 4Culture of King County.
