The City of Des Moines will host its Spring Recycling Collection Event on Saturday, Mar. 28, offering residents a chance to safely dispose of items that cannot be placed in regular curbside bins.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Des Moines Marina South Parking Lot (map below), with vehicle access from South 227th Street, according to city officials.

Residents can bring a range of materials, including electronic and computer equipment, televisions, tires, batteries and propane tanks. Some items may require a fee, and payments will be accepted in cash only.

The event will also include a rain barrel and compost or worm bin sale, providing residents with tools to prepare for the spring gardening season.

City officials noted that certain items will not be accepted, including cardboard, household goods, clothing and Styrofoam blocks.

The event is part of ongoing efforts by the City of Des Moines to promote proper waste disposal and environmental sustainability.
