A juvenile suspect was arrested early Saturday, April 18, following an armed robbery of a citizen in the 3000 block of South 216th Street in Des Moines, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office and Des Moines Police Department.
Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office initially responded around midnight because the 911 call originated in their jurisdiction, but the case was later transferred to Des Moines Police after it was determined the crime occurred within city limits.
Police said the victim was approached by a juvenile male suspect who made gestures indicating he had a weapon before stealing the victim’s cellphone.
A K9 track was conducted, and the suspect was located nearby.
Police recovered the victim’s property, and the suspect was safely taken into custody, and booked into the King County Juvenile Justice Center for investigation of robbery.
The Des Moines Police Department is leading the investigation.
