A motorcyclist was injured early Saturday, Aug. 22, in a hit and run collision on northbound SR 99 in Tukwila, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The collision was reported at 1:25 a.m. as two vehicles were traveling north on SR 99 approaching 14th Street in one of two lanes, according to a WSP incident report. WSP said the first vehicle struck the second vehicle, then continued north on SR 99.
The second vehicle, a motorcycle, came to rest on the right shoulder and was totaled, according to WSP. The rider was injured and transported to HMC. WSP said he was wearing a USDOT compliant helmet.
The driver and vehicle that left the scene were unknown, according to WSP. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and WSP listed hit and run as the charge.
The roadway was blocked for 3 hours and 47 minutes, WSP said.
In a Saturday morning travel alert, the Washington State Department of Transportation said multiple lanes of northbound SR 99 at Des Moines Memorial Drive in Tukwila were closed because of a collision.
WSDOT said traffic was being diverted to South 102nd Street and that there was no estimated time for reopening.
