Northwest Symphony Orchestra (NWSO) will open its 2026–2027 season and 40th anniversary year with a family concert Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Highline Performing Arts Center in Burien.
The concert, “Family Concert: Sounds of the American West,” will be led by Anthony Spain, Music Director.
The program will include:
- “Philharmonic Fanfare” by Gina Gillie
- “Cascadiana” by Scott Henderson with visuals of the Cascade Mountains
- “Four Dance Episodes from Rodeo” by Aaron Copland
- “Cowboys Suite” by Brent Irwin
- “Festival Rondo” by Richard Meyers
- “A Pioneers Tale” by Alan Lee Silva
The concert also will feature “Sketches from the Northwest” by student composer Nina Loric. The work includes movements titled “Mount Rainier” and “Water Dances at Franklin Falls.”
Students from Highline School District, Key to Change Studio and West Seattle High School also will perform as part of the program, giving the season opener a strong local connection for families in Burien and nearby South King County communities.
Tickets
Tickets are just $15-$20 to the Family Concert on Saturday, Oct. 10 and students 18 and under are FREE. For the Oct. 10 concert, these can be purchased beginning 45 minutes at the ticket box before the concert, or by calling the NWSO at (206) 242-6321.
