A private boat tour exploring the legend of the historic 1947 Maury Island Incident will be among the live auction offerings at the Des Moines Legacy Foundation’s “Back to the Brunch” fundraiser this Sunday, Nov. 1.

The package pairs a two-hour cruise aboard an Axopar 28 with local historian, filmmaker, screenwriter of the award-winning film and Men in Black aficionado Steve Edmiston. Departing from Des Moines, the tour will travel to the shores of Maury Island as Edmiston shares the story of the iconic June 21, 1947 UFO sighting and its connection to Men in Black lore.

The account includes what the foundation describes as the first reported appearance of a Man in Black following the sighting.

Beverages and Men in Black Birthday Bash merchandise are included.

Listed as auction item No. 7, the cruise carries an estimated value of $2,500. Bidding starts at $1,000, with increases of $100. The listing also offers a purchase option for $3,200. See all items up for bid here.

The trip depends on weather, and the winning bidder and donor will agree on a date.

The winner won’t be riding on “The Reliable,” the boat used in the filming of “The Maury Island Incident” film, but you will cruise in this area where portions of the movie were shot.
