The Des Moines City Council at its Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024 meeting unanimously selected Katherine Caffrey as the new City Manager after a nearly year-long search process.
Caffrey, who was chosen from a pool of four final candidates, is the most experienced of the group, and her appointment has received widespread support from both the Council and the community.
“We are confident that her experience and vision will greatly benefit our community,” the city said in a statement. “Once we have finalized the terms of the appointment with Katherine, we will provide a detailed update to the public. We are looking forward to sharing more information about this exciting new chapter.”
Caffrey is expected to bring her extensive expertise to the position, ensuring effective leadership for the city.
The city added:
“We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in this important process. Your engagement has been invaluable in assisting the City Council to identify the right person for this crucial role.”
