The Des Moines Community Academy is returning this spring with classes starting Monday, Mar. 24, 2025.

This one-week academy gives participants an in-depth look at the Des Moines Police Department and the criminal justice system.

“Whether you’re interested in law enforcement or just want to better understand the challenges officers face, this academy is for you!” organizers said.

Class Details:

  • WHEN: Monday, Mar. 24 – Friday, Mar. 28, 2025, 6 – 9 p.m.

What to Expect:

  • Interactive Sessions covering various aspects of law enforcement.
  • A better understanding of the criminal justice system and police work.
  • An opportunity to ask questions and gain insights from local officers.

  • A criminal background check will be conducted for all applicants.
  • Applicants must be 18+ and either Des Moines residents, business owners, or students.
