Barnacles at Des Moines has been sold, and will soon re-open with new owners as an Italian Restaurant called “Prima Margherita.” Barnacles last day of business is today – Sunday, Dec. 30 – then they close their doors for good. As we previously reported, Barnacles first opened its doors at 22636 Marine View Drive South on March 1, 2010. They served as a steakhouse, along with seafood and a lounge. Prior to Barnacles, this location housed a Boston Pizza & Pasta restaurant. While we don’t yet have a date for the new business to open, we’ve been told it will be “very soon.” “Please, please stop by and see us all this weekend!” they said on their Facebook page. “It is a happy ending for us and an exciting beginning for another. We will truly miss each and everyone of you! You have been soooooo amazing! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And god bless!” Barnacles will be open until 9 p.m. tonight. “Thank you all for creating and running a successful local, family-owned restaurant you can be proud of, and where we could enjoy good food and just hanging out,” said Mayor Dave Kaplan on their Facebook page.]]>
