Community group to host meeting on Sea-Tac Airport expansion plans at Glacier Middle School TONIGHT

by EditorJune 17, 2026June 17, 2026

Residents concerned about the proposed expansion of Sea-Tac Airport are invited to attend a community meeting TONIGHT – Wednesday, June 17 – to learn more about the Port of Seattle’s recently released Draft Environmental Impact Statement and its potential impacts on nearby neighborhoods.

Sea-Tac Airport Communities 4 Justice, or STACC4J, will host the meeting from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on June 17 at Glacier Middle School Cafeteria, 2450 S. 142nd Street in SeaTac (map below).

According to the coalition, the Port of Seattle recently published a Draft Environmental Impact Statement exceeding 6,000 pages as part of the Sustainable Airport Master Plan expansion process. Organizers said the meeting will help residents understand what the proposal could mean for air quality, noise, sleep, health and children living in communities near the airport.

“Six thousand pages They were counting on us not reading it. We did. And now we’re breaking it down — together,” organizers said.

STACC4J describes itself as a coalition of residents, youth, elders, grassroots leaders and partner organizations from communities they say bear the heaviest burden of airport operations, including SeaTac, Burien, Des Moines, Renton, Auburn, Beacon Hill, Georgetown, South Park and the Duwamish Valley.

“You don’t need to come as an expert,” organizers said in announcing the event. “Just come as a neighbor, someone who breathes the air, hears the planes, and deserves better.”

The coalition said residents in those communities have experienced years of aircraft noise, air pollution, traffic and health impacts and that the meeting is intended to help community members understand the airport expansion proposal and identify actions they can take before the public comment period closes.

Organizers will provide banh mi sandwiches, beverages and door prizes.
