The Des Moines City Council has moved its discussion on the Marina Steps and Redondo Pier projects from Feb. 13 to an earlier date, scheduling it for a study session on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025.

The decision comes in response to significant community input requesting earlier engagement on the matter.

The Feb. 6 council meeting will be a study session, allowing for extended public comment and in-depth council discussion.

The session will include updates on the Marina Steps and Pier projects, details about the financing plans, and an exploration of funding and implementation scenarios.

“This change ensures there will be more time for community input and thoughtful deliberation,” city officials said in a statement.

The city will contact residents who signed up to speak at the Jan. 23 Council meeting or submitted written comments to inform them of the new date.
