The Des Moines Dollars for Scholars® has opened its scholarship application window for the 2026 academic year, offering local students and adult learners the chance to apply for multiple awards through a single application.

The application period opened Jan. 1 and will close March 31, 2026, according to the organization.

For more than 20 years, Des Moines Dollars for Scholars® has provided financial support to students in the community pursuing higher education.

Eligible applicants must live in or attend school in Des Moines or Normandy Park.

Applicants may be considered for 10 to 16 scholarships by completing one application, the organization said. Individual awards range from $500 to $1,000.

Scholarship funds may be used at two year and four year colleges, as well as vocational and technical schools. Students graduating from high school, individuals who have earned a GED and adults continuing their education are encouraged to apply.

In addition to general scholarships, special consideration is given to applicants who demonstrate interest or experience in specific areas, including law enforcement or criminal justice careers, environmental education, waste reduction and related fields. Work experience may also be considered, according to the organization.

Additional information and application materials are available at the organization’s website here.
