The Des Moines Historical Society is inviting the public to a three-hour cruise (“a three-hour cruise…“) on South Puget Sound this summer, marking the first time such an event has been offered in decades.

The cruise will take place Sunday, July 19, 2026, aboard the Argosy Cruises vessel “Lady Mary” (pictured below), departing from the Des Moines Marina.

Boarding is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., with departure at 1 p.m. and a return around 4 p.m., according to the Des Moines Historical Society.

Organizers said the last time a similar cruise was offered was in 1989, making the upcoming trip a rare opportunity for residents to experience the region from the water.

Passengers will be provided with unlimited fountain sodas, coffee and tea during the trip. Alcoholic beverages, sandwiches and snacks will be available for purchase, with payments accepted by credit card, debit card or mobile payment only.

A speaker from SR3, SeaLife Response, Rehab and Research, will provide narration during portions of the cruise.

Tickets are priced at $100 each and are available online here, but act fast, as attendance is limited to 150 people.

The Des Moines Historical Society is also encouraging community members to support its mission by joining the organization, which works to preserve and promote the history of Des Moines.
