The Des Moines Legacy Foundation’s Bayside Brunch will return to Anthony’s Homeport on Sunday, Nov. 1, renewing a fundraising partnership after a six-year hiatus to support local youth, families and seniors.

The 21st annual event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Anthony’s Homeport Des Moines (map below).

Tickets cost $75 and are available at DMLegacy.org, according to the foundation.

Themed “Back to the Brunch,” the fundraiser will feature a silent auction, a paddle raise for donations, music and activities inspired by the iconic “Back to the Future” film.

Proceeds will support youth scholarships, senior services, arts and recreation, the foundation said.

Guests are invited to dress as their favorite movie characters. Classic DeLorean cars will be on display, and the festivities will include Marty versus Biff costume contests.

The brunch menu will include mimosas, pastries, eggs Benedict, crepes, seafood and other chef specialties. Auction offerings and a restaurant board will feature experiences and dining opportunities, according to organizers.

The foundation also is seeking auction donations from businesses, artists and residents, including experiences, gift baskets, artwork and specialty items. Sponsors and donors will be recognized at the event.

VIP tables and sponsorships are available, with listed options of $500, $1,000, $1,500 and $2,500. Donation and sponsorship inquiries can be sent to Desmoineslegacyfoundation@gmail.com.

The event also will celebrate the foundation’s work since its founding in December 1999. The organization says it has invested more than $2.5 million in community programs, including more than $248,935 in youth scholarships and programs, $312,812 in senior services and $109,589 in arts and culture.

Its partnerships with Anthony’s Homeport have raised $733,604 for youth and senior programs, according to the foundation.

The foundation’s broader work has supported improvements at Des Moines parks, community gardens, food bank transportation and local events. Its Bayside Ball fundraisers have raised more than $150,000 since 2023 for youth swimming lessons, arts, recreation and the food bank, the organization said.
