A Des Moines police officer apprehended a suspect wanted in connection with a Seattle homicide after a vehicle chase and brief foot pursuit on Monday evening, June 24, 2024.

Police said that at around 7 p.m., the officer spotted a stolen vehicle linked to a homicide that occurred in Seattle on June 16. The vehicle was parked at a business in the 22600 block of Pacific Highway South (map below). When the officer attempted to make contact, the vehicle fled to a nearby apartment complex parking garage.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, abandoned the car and fled on foot. After a brief chase through the apartment complex, the officer successfully apprehended the suspect.

The Seattle Police Department’s Homicide Division was notified, and Des Moines Police coordinated the transfer of the suspect and vehicle to Seattle authorities for further investigation.

The case remains an active investigation by the Seattle Police Department.
