The City of Des Moines will honor longtime community figure Jack Kelsey and his mother, Norma Kelsey, with a special bench dedication ceremony on Saturday, Mar. 29, 2025 at 10:30 a.m.
The event will take place at the corner of S. 223rd Street and 7th Avenue S. (map below).
In addition to the bench dedication, the city will also unveil the newly named Backstage Alley and Commemorative Waterland Way, recognizing the area’s cultural and historical significance.
Community members are invited to attend the ceremony, which will include light refreshments and an opportunity to celebrate the legacy of the Kelsey family, who have played a vital role in Des Moines’ history.
The event is free and open to the public.
