The City of Des Moines invites the community to join a special Veterans Day ceremony on Monday, Nov. 11, 2024 at Steven J. Underwood Memorial Park to honor the dedication and sacrifices of America’s veterans.
The event will run from 10:30 a.m. to Noon, with the official ceremony beginning at 11:11 a.m. in recognition of Armistice Day, marking the end of World War I on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.
This tribute is a gesture of gratitude to the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, protecting the nation and its freedoms.
All are invited to gather at the park, located at 21600 20th Ave S. (map below), to express appreciation for veterans’ courage and commitment.
City officials encourage residents of all ages to attend as a show of community support for local veterans.
