Des Moines to host free Community Shredding Event on Wednesday, April 23
Residents looking to safely dispose of personal documents will have the opportunity to do so at a Community Shredding Event on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Des Moines Activity Center (map below).
The event is hosted by the Des Moines/Normandy Park Senior Advisory Committee and is free and open to all Des Moines residents.
Participants can bring up to 10 file-sized boxes of paper for shredding.
Accepted Items Include:
- ✅ File folders
- ✅ Envelopes
- ✅ Paper (staples allowed
(Examples: receipts, bills, bank statements, canceled checks)
Items NOT Accepted:
- ❌ Cardboard
- ❌ Newspaper
- ❌ Boxes
- ❌ X-rays
- ❌ Plastics
The event aims to help residents securely dispose of sensitive documents while promoting identity theft prevention.
