Second annual ‘Roper Romp’ set for Saturday, May 9 in downtown Des Moines

The second annual “Roper Romp” is set to return to downtown Des Moines on Saturday, May 9, inviting participants to dress up and take part in a colorful afternoon of themed festivities.
The event will run from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., with attendees encouraged to wear bright caftans, chunky jewelry and costumes inspired by the Mrs. Roper character from the 1970s TV show “Three’s Company” (see clip below) as they gather and explore the downtown area.
Participants will check in and out at the Des Moines Theater before heading out to enjoy the event throughout the afternoon.
Organizers say the event is designed as a social gathering focused on fun, costumes and community engagement, with attendees encouraged to come with friends and take part in the experience together.
Karaoke will begin at 4 p.m., offering participants an additional opportunity to continue the celebration.
