Waterland Parade will march through downtown Des Moines on Saturday, July 18

The 2026 Waterland Parade returns to downtown Des Moines on Saturday, July 18, 2026 bringing an evening of family fun, community spirit and a brand-new twist.

The Grande Parade steps off at 6 p.m., following a fresh southbound route along Marine View Drive S. Spectators can look forward to all the favorites, including the Seafair Pirates, marching bands, colorful community floats and plenty of surprises along the way.

NEW – Block Party!

And when the last float rolls by, the celebration won’t end. For the first time ever, the festivities will continue from 8–10 p.m. with an expanded post-parade Block Party featuring food, music and local entertainment that will keep downtown buzzing into the night.

Children’s activities typically take place before the parade, making it a full day of fun for all ages.

  • 6 p.m.: Grande Parade (children’s activities typically precede the parade)
  • 8 p.m.: Block Party starts!
