The Frank S. Land Masonic Lodge No. 313 has once again warmed the hearts and feet of the local community, collecting over 1,500 pairs of socks during its Annual Sock Drive for the Des Moines Food Bank.
This year’s effort marks a milestone, surpassing last year’s total while also securing a $1,500 matching donation to support families during the holiday season.
The lodge, whose principles are rooted in faith, hope, and charity, expressed gratitude to the Des Moines community for their generosity.
“We are hopeful that by spreading our mission and goals for this next winter season, even more of you will feel called to join us in helping the community,” lodge member Carl Jones told The Waterland Blog. “Thank you again for your support!”
The Des Moines Food Bank, which has experienced an increase in demand, benefited not only from the sock donations but also from the financial boost made possible by a partnership between the lodge and Washington Masonic Services. The $1,500 contribution helped the food bank provide additional resources to families in need.
Looking ahead, the lodge plans to expand its efforts for the 2025 winter season by including donations of new socks, underwear, and blankets. The drive is set to begin in November, with updates and additional collection opportunities to be announced in the coming months.
“We are hopeful that even more people will feel called to join us in helping the community,” Jones added. “Together, we can make an even bigger impact.”
