The next Highline Forum will take place Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., offering a packed agenda of regional updates, including preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and local workforce development efforts.

The meeting will be held in a hybrid format, with in-person attendance at Highline College’s Student Union Building (Building 8), 2400 S. 240th Street in Des Moines (map below), as well as an option to participate virtually via Microsoft Teams.

Community members planning to attend are asked to RSVP to Dave Kaplan at Kaplan.D@PortSeattle.org, who will provide a Teams link or a parking pass as needed.

This quarter’s meeting includes presentations by Explore Seattle Southside and the Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce on planning for the 2026 World Cup.

Representatives from Highline College, Highline Public Schools and the Port of Seattle will also speak on regional workforce development initiatives.

An update from Arif Ghouse, Interim Aviation Managing Director, will cover the latest developments from the StART (Sea-Tac Airport Stakeholder Advisory Round Table) group.

Attendees will also hear from Highline College, the forum’s host, and there will be a public comment period. Those wishing to speak may do so in person, by email, or via Teams with advance notice by 9 a.m. the morning of the meeting.

According to organizers, the forum is intended to foster communication between the Port of Seattle and surrounding cities and school districts impacted by Sea-Tac Airport operations.

Public Participation Options:

  • Email: Comments sent to Kaplan.D@PortSeattle.org will be shared with forum members.
  • Teams: Email by 9 a.m. July 23 to receive a link to speak.
  • In person: Sign up at the meeting at least 15 minutes early.
