Mt. Rainier High School kicked off its 2024 football season on Friday, Sept. 6, with a hard-fought 42-27 loss to Highline in the first-ever “Waterfront Cup” at Highline Memorial Stadium.

Despite a strong effort, the Rams’ defense struggled to contain Highline’s offense, led by senior quarterback Ronan Rasmussen, who threw for 327 yards and four touchdowns.

Although Mt. Rainier battled throughout the game, they couldn’t close the gap.

The Rams look to bounce back as they face South Kitsap on Friday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m.
