On Nov. 19, 2024, Tukwila PD K9 Raider and his handler, Officer Vivet, assisted the Des Moines Police Department in apprehending a suspect who fled from a stolen vehicle in the 21600 block of 31st Avenue (map below).
The pursuit led Raider and Officer Vivet through a residential and apartment area.
The incident began when the suspect abandoned a stolen vehicle and fled on foot. Following multiple K9 announcements, Raider tracked the suspect’s trail from the vehicle through an apartment complex parking lot and over a cyclone fence. Raider continued the search to another apartment complex parking lot, where additional announcements were made, but the suspect refused to surrender.
Raider ultimately located the suspect hiding under the rear of a truck. Despite repeated warnings, the suspect resisted, prompting Raider to make contact. The suspect was taken into custody, treated at a hospital for injuries, and later booked into jail on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle.
“This is Raider’s 24th capture,” Tukwila Police said. “Not all police departments have K9s and we (and Raider) are glad to assist other agencies.”
