The Mount Rainier High Rams opened the 2026 football season with a 25–15 victory over the Highline Pirates on Friday night, Sept. 4 at Highline Memorial Stadium in Burien.
The win gave Mount Rainier a record of 1-0.
MaxPreps listed the Rams at No. 170 in Washington and No. 46 among 4A teams in its latest rankings.
The Rams next face North Mason in an away game on Saturday, Sept. 12.
Scoring Recap
- Mount Rainier led 13–7 at halftime.
- In the 3rd quarter, Highline’s safety made the score 13–9 before the Rams added an 8-yard touchdown pass.
- Highline came back and scored on a 43-yard touchdown pass, bringing the score to 19-15 after both teams missed extra points.
- In the 4th quarter, the Rams sealed the win after intercepting a Highline pass at the Pirates’ 10 yard line, then scored on a 2-yard rushing touchdown for the final margin.
- The game was played on a dry field in fair weather before an announced attendance of at least 1,000.
