Normandy Park Turkeys officially pardoned as ‘Dinner or Pardon’ food drive tops 7,800 donations

by EditorNovember 26, 2025November 26, 2025

Two live – and very gradeful – turkeys on display outside a Normandy Park home have officially been “pardoned” after community members cast 7,856 food donation votes, with 6,106 in favor of sparing them, according to organizer Candace Krull.

The Krull family has been hosting the “Dinner or Pardon” Turkey Food Drive for eight years – and continuing through Thanksgiving – outside their home at 20005 3rd Ave SW (map below).

Each donated can of food counts as a vote to either eat or pardon the turkeys, with all contributions benefiting the Transform Burien Food Bank.

Krull said food donations have been pouring in throughout November. This year the community cast 1,750 votes for dinner and 6,106 votes to pardon, ensuring both turkeys will be spared for 2025.

“You can still drive by, visit the live turkeys, and drop off canned goods through Thanksgiving,” Krull told South King Media.

This fun, annual food drive draws donations from Normandy Park, Burien, Des Moines, SeaTac, Tukwila, Kent, White Center and other south King County communities.

Food collected supports the Transform Burien Food Bank, which provides meals and services to residents throughout the region.

The Krull’s house is located at 20005 3rd Ave SW in Normandy Park:
