The first-ever Pancake Feed Fundraiser will take place this Saturday (July 14) at the Des Moines Waterfront Farmers Market from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Boardwalk Bistro at the Marina. For only $4 you”ll get pancakes, condiments and a drink. All proceeds will benefit the Farmers Market Foundation, which is a non-profit whose sole purpose is a funding mechanism for the sustainability of the Farmers Market. “Bring the whole family and come on down and enjoy the delicious food, watch the boating activity and support your favorite farmers market,” said Board President Wayne Corey. Also at the market this Saturday, South King Fire & Rescue will have a booth doing free blood pressure and glucose checks. Look for their booth and the antique fire engine by the market plaza. Off duty firefighters will also be helping to serve pancakes. This Saturday and every second Saturday of the month look for The Friends of the Des Moines Library booth, they will have books for sale. Bargain prices: $1.00 for hardbacks, $.50 for paperbacks. Also for sale are book bags. All proceeds go to supporting children and teen programs at the Des Moines and Woodmont Libraries.
