The Rotary Club of Des Moines & Normandy Park has unveiled an inspiring slate of speakers and events for April 2025, inviting the public to attend its weekly Wednesday meetings at Marina Mercantile from 12 to 1 p.m.
Each week features a guest who brings a fresh perspective on local, national, and international topics, including humanitarian work, education, music, and community development.
The month caps off with a special fundraising event at Topgolf, with proceeds supporting Rotary’s community programs.

April Lineup of Events:
- April 9: Carl Dombeck shares firsthand experiences as a volunteer in Ukraine, providing unique insight into on-the-ground humanitarian efforts.
- April 16: Lisa Nickel, retired educator and magazine writer, discusses her journey from the classroom to the page, exploring creativity in retirement.
- April 23: Cathy Thompson from Music4Life presents the organization’s mission of providing musical instruments to students in need.
- April 27: Topgolf: Swing for a Cause fundraiser event supporting local Rotary initiatives. Tickets available here.
- April 30: Patrice Thorell from the Des Moines Legacy Foundation shares how the organization is enriching the community through long-term projects and partnerships.
The club encourages community members to attend, connect, and learn from speakers while supporting Rotary’s mission to serve locally and globally.
