Saltwater State Park will host a free First Day Hike on Wednesday Jan. 1, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to Noon, according to event information provided by Washington State Parks.

The 1.5 mile hike will take place on the McSorley Creek Loop Trail and will be led by Park Ranger Rudd and Park Ranger Alvarado.

Organizers said the hike will encourage a self-guided approach but park staff will be present throughout the route.

Participants are asked to meet in the lower parking lot near the restroom before the 10:30 a.m. start time.

The event is open to beginners and is recommended for children ages five and older.

The trail is not ADA accessible and is not suitable for strollers.

Leashed dogs are permitted.

No registration is required.

Hikers are advised to bring sturdy boots because the trail can be muddy this time of year along with rain gear.
