The City of Des Moines has postponed Wednesday night’s (Aug. 5) Summer Concert featuring ABBAgraph because of ongoing air quality concerns and forecasts showing conditions could worsen.

City officials said they made the decision after monitoring air quality using guidance from the Washington State Department of Ecology and the Washington State Department of Health. The city said wildfire smoke and heat are expected to increase, creating continued concern for outdoor events in Des Moines.

“While we know this decision is disappointing, the health and safety of our residents, visitors, performers, volunteers, and staff remain our highest priority,” the city said in its announcement.

The city said the cautious approach is consistent with actions being taken by many neighboring jurisdictions for similar outdoor events.

Des Moines officials said they are working to reschedule the concert and will announce a new date once it has been confirmed.
