Community members in Des Moines, SeaTac, Kent, and Federal Way can sign up to receive free trees this fall as part of the Sound Transit Federal Way Link Extension project.
In collaboration with construction contractor Kiewit, the 2024 tree giveaway offers a variety of tree species to eligible residents and organizations.
Available tree species include:
- Bitter Cherry
- Cascara
- Douglas Fir
- Pacific Crabapple
- Vine Maple
- Western Redcedar
The giveaway is part of a larger effort to promote environmental stewardship in areas impacted by the construction project.
The tree pickup event is scheduled for mid-October, and signups will be accepted until the tree inventory is depleted.
