Sound Transit is inviting community leaders from King, Snohomish, and Pierce counties to apply for its Diversity Oversight Committee (DOC), an initiative aimed at ensuring inclusivity and equity in the agency’s economic and workforce development programs.

The committee serves as an advisory body, offering guidance on policies that impact small businesses, pre-apprentices, and historically underrepresented communities affected by transit projects.

“This is an opportunity for individuals passionate about economic and small business development to help ensure Sound Transit’s projects and initiatives are inclusive and equitable,” the agency said in a statement.

Who Should Apply?

Sound Transit is seeking applicants who:

  • Represent small businesses, trade organizations, or communities impacted by transit expansion
  • Have experience in diversity, equity, workforce development, public policy, or small business advocacy
  • Live or work in King, Snohomish, or Pierce counties
  • Are committed to advancing equitable opportunities in public transit projects

Committee Responsibilities

DOC members will:

  • Advise on Sound Transit’s Economic Development programs
  • Monitor the progress of small business initiatives
  • Act as a liaison between Sound Transit and affected communities
  • Meet regularly to review policies, engagement strategies, and program effectiveness

A selection panel consisting of Sound Transit’s Acting Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer, the Deputy Executive Director of Business Inclusion, and current DOC members will review applications and recommend candidates.

Final selections will be announced by April 21, 2025.
