“Thank you to everyone who supported BAT during its 2025-26 season!!!”

As BAT’s 46th Season draws to a close, and BAT gets ready for its free summer in the parks shows, BAT offers you a FREE gift. A video of the winter show, R.U.R. (Rossum’s Universal Robots). While a video is not as much fun as seeing a play in person, it is well worth watching.

“AI is on the rise. Written in 1920, this brilliant satire examines what could happen when robots free humans to pursue “…things such as perfecting themselves rather than toiling long days just for bread.” With sharp wit, provocative ideas, and eerie relevance to today’s AI boom, Čapek’s prescient masterpiece is a cautionary tale for all.”

Most of the plays BAT produces are current. They are often regional and sometimes national premieres. For that reason, BAT can only rarely share videos of its work due to copyright laws.

RUR was an exception.

Written in 1920, RUR is in the public domain. Thanks to Tomothy Duvall’s recording skills, BAT is pleased to share a video of RUR with you:

It is about two hours long, so make some popcorn, snuggle up, and sit back and enjoy the show. If you saw RUR live at BAT’s current home at Kennedy Catholic High School, you will enjoy it all over again. If you missed RUR while it was live on stage, enjoy.

“BAT looks forward to seeing you at its FREE park show, The Courage to Right a Woman’s Wrongs, this summer, and then inside during BAT’s 47th season,” organizers said. “This fall, we will be back at Kennedy High School with more amazing theater.”
