The 10th Anniversary Opening Day is this Saturday for the Des Moines Waterfront Farmers Market! Joining our many regular vendors will be some new ones and the now famous Food Truck-In, with 12 delicious menus to choose from. And don’t forget to taste and pick up your supply of Farmers Market Cabernet and Riesling wines for your summer BBQs – there will wine specials and free market logo wear giveaways. There will be a community information booth right next to the market’s information booth. Mrs. Wanolitto will be handing out brochures, flyers, etc. on the events happening in our fair city. Look for the Highline Music4Life program at this booth; they are collecting used musical instruments for refurbishing to give to Highline School students who are not able to afford them. They will be at the market every Saturday in June. Music on opening day will showcase northwest premier band “Uncle Ernie.” Food Truck-In vendors: Charlies Buns N stuff, Curb Jumper Street Eats, Fish Basket, Fusion on the Run, Mini the DoughNut, Nibbles, Nosh, Raney Bros BBQ, Stella Fiore, Full Tilt Ice Cream and Jemils. Here are other special groups you will find this Saturday: Mt Rainer Pool, South King Fire & Rescue, Mt Rainer Booster Club and Des Moines Police. City staff and volunteers will host a booth on the Boardwalk promoting the PR and SS Master Plan survey, summer events and programs and our new waterfront initiative “tothebeachwa.com.” They will also have Sr. Services raffle tickets, Arts Gala tickets, and Waterland Fun(d) Run registrations. Seniors don’t forget that the market and the King Conservation District, along with partner Senior Services, are offering the HYDE Shuttle providing local door to door transportation to the market to seniors 55 and older and the disabled of all ages living in Des Moines, Normandy Park, Burien and this year Sea-Tac. Don’t forget to get your application for the Clutter to Cash sale on June 27th. You can sell all that odd ball stuff you have been moving from one side of your garage to the other. The 25 booth spaces are starting to fill up, so we are encouraging people to sign up early. The space fee is $20 and you must provide your own tables, chairs, etc. You can sign up at the information booth or download the application from our website. To keep up with all the special events, featuring what’s fresh and entertainment at the market, please log onto the web site and sign up for our e-newsletter that comes out once a week. You can also keep up on the activities by visiting the market’s Facebook page. See you on OPENING DAY!]]>
