Your Daily Dose of Natural Beauty, courtesy Advertiser Zenith Holland Nursery – Carpet Roses Bloom in Abundance:

Doesn’t this image just scream “Happy Mother’s Day”? We thought so too, and with the big day (Mother’s Day is Sunday May 10, 2020) fast approaching, a glimpse at this variety of ever popular roses seems timely.

Pink Splash is a particularly pretty carpet rose, given its tri-color petals of white and pink splashed with deep rose. The varietal name is inspired from the relatively low and spreading growth of this hardy shrub rose. Most will grow 2–3 feet high, spreading to 3-feet wide, making them well-suited to foundation beds and flower beds in full sun. They are reported to be disease resistant, however as with almost all roses, it is important to avoid getting leaves wet, unless they will be able to dry out quickly, this can help prevent the dreaded “black spot” on leaves. For optimum growth, the shrubs should receive a top dressing of compost or composted manure in early spring and mid-June. Organic fertilizer is an additional feed option.

Pink Splash has many great features, one of the most appreciated is their long blooming pattern; as the older flowers are fading the shrub is busy making new buds even without dead-heading so that you can enjoy continuing blooms throughout. Whether you choose a carpet rose to honor mom, or just to complete a garden corner, Pink Splash is a great choice to add a touch of romance in abundance.
