  1. I couldn’t be more proud of our community today. With little notice dozens attended a poignant and entirely peaceful protest – one that included a transfer from the marina to Big Catch Plaza. Police were welcoming of the protesters and provided a peaceful presence. Bravo all around!

  2. The death of George Floyd is one event that will forever remain in my mind, along with Pearl Harbor and 9/11. This memory is even more vivid due to the actual witnessing of a human being literally being suffocated with not one soul interceding. It is certainly a matter of pride in our CIty of Des Moines that this protest was as peaceful as is its requirement under Amendment I, “the right of the people to peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government fora redress of grievances.” Thank you to some fine citizens for this display of doing the right thing for the right reasons.

  3. Thank you Pat for your kind thoughts about George Floyd. And Thank you citizens for your peaceful assembly.
