A pedestrian was killed early Monday, Aug. 10 after exiting a moving vehicle on northbound I-5 just south of South 272nd Street, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The fatal collision was reported at 12:17 a.m. Monday in the Federal Way area, and involved two vehicles and one pedestrian.
No injuries were reported to the drivers.
How The Incident HappenedL
- Vehicle 1 was traveling northbound on I-5 just south of South 272nd Street in lane three of five.
- Vehicle 2 was traveling northbound on I-5 in lane one of five.
- The pedestrian exited Vehicle 1 while it was still moving.
- Vehicle 2 struck the pedestrian between lanes one and two.
- The pedestrian came to rest on the right shoulder and sadly was pronounced dead at the scene.
- Both vehicles came to a controlled stop on the right shoulder.
- The roadway was blocked for about three hours and 45 minutes.
The cause remains under investigation. WSP listed drugs or alcohol as unknown.
