The man fatally shot in downtown Des Moines early Sunday, Sept. 20 has been identified as 31-year-old Abraham D. Ferrell Logan, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Logan died from multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner’s office reported.
As we previously reported, the tragic, fatal shooting occurred Sept. 20 in a parking lot at 22231 Marine View Drive South.
Des Moines Police responded at about 1:55 a.m. to a report of a shooting in the 22300 block of Marine View Drive South. Officers found Logan suffering from gunshot wounds and began providing first aid.
Medics continued lifesaving efforts, but sadly, Logan was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police said the suspect was not located at the scene, and investigators believe they fled the area.
Police Chief Ted Boe said the shooting followed a dispute between two people and was not believed to be random. Detectives were interviewing witnesses and reviewing available technology as they worked to identify the suspect, according to Boe.
“We do not believe there is an ongoing threat to our residents at this time,” Boe said.
Police said the person responsible left the scene before officers arrived. The Washington State Patrol was assisting with processing evidence, and the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office was working with investigators, according to the department.
The Des Moines Police Department is leading the homicide investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 206-878-3301.
