This year, the Burien UFO Festival (‘BUFO’) – set for Wednesday, April 1 – will introduce the first-ever Burien Film Festival, featuring locally-made short, sci-fi themed films vying for a $2,500 cash prize. Created by John White and Shelli Park, with help from Renatta Emerson, BUFO’s new category will showcase original new films made just for this competition, which will be screened on a big screen outside on SW 152nd Street in Olde Burien! Filmmakers have been tasked with shooting their productions in Burien, showing off local businesses and using a general theme involving UFOs, aliens, Men/Women in Black, conspiracies, chase scenes and more.
