Starting Sept. 11, 2025, Des Moines residents will be able to watch and participate in City Council meetings live on Zoom, the city announced.
The new online option is designed to make local government more accessible to residents who cannot attend in person.
“You’ll be able to watch, listen, and even participate in public comment—all from the comfort of your home,” the city said in its announcement.
City officials said instructions and Zoom links will be provided ahead of the meetings.
The council currently meets at Des Moines City Hall, but the addition of virtual access will allow residents across the city to take part in civic discussions more conveniently.
The first meeting with Zoom access will be on Monday, Sept. 11, 2025.
