Join us for the SECOND TO LAST SeaTac Farmers Market of the season this Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024, from 3 -7 p.m.!
The market is held in the Matt Griffin YMCA’s east parking lot at 3595 S. 188th St, SeaTac WA 98188 (map below).
There are only two market dates left in the season – Wednesday, Oct. 2 and Wednesday, Nov. 6 – and we’re gearing up to have an awesome end to the season with diverse vendor lineups and an abundance of free community resources for all.
The SeaTac Farmers Market, a program of local Black-women-led nonprofit African Community Housing and Development (ACHD), is rooted in community abundance, health equity, and food justice. The market was founded to highlight cultural foods, goods, and community while increasing access to vibrant and healthy foods in historic food apartheid (or food desert) zones. Our market is a hub that reflects and celebrates the SeaTac community’s diversity and provides free resources to all our neighbors, with no questions asked.
At each market, we distribute at least 50 bags of free local produce and basic needs products like diapers, personal care products, home cleaning products, and more. Additionally, our market gives each child $5 youth bucks to practice healthy spending habits. Each market features holistic health and wellness programming and community tables; on Wednesday, WSDOH Care-a-Van will be parked at the market, offering free vaccines (childhood vaccines, MPox, flu, COVID) and wellness resources. The market is a one-stop shop for our neighbors, regardless of income, to celebrate the seasonal bounty our local farmers and food producers provide.
Alongside free community resources, customers can also shop for products ranging from locally grown, culturally relevant produce, custom flower bouquets, hot foods from around the world, packaged baked goods and beverages, and handmade artisan crafts. At the SeaTac Farmers Market this Wednesday, customers can expect peak summer produce like heirloom tomatoes, diverse pepper varieties, eggplants, collard greens, and much more. Hot food vendors will be serving up Senegambian plates with jollof rice and stewed meats, made-to-order Salvadorean pupusas, and, for the first time in SeaTac Farmers Market history, Dom’s Smash Burgers with a Filipino twist. The market will also have handmade pies, Southern comfort baked goods, the freshest mozzarella and Mexican cheeses, handwoven African baskets, and more. To cultivate a space where small businesses thrive, our markets charge no fees– vendors keep 100% of their proceeds.
We are excited to announce that we can now accept SNAP-EBT at the market, and we will offer a one-to-one match of up to $25 per market day with the SNAP Market Match program!
The SeaTac Farmers Market is a thriving community hub where neighbors gather, eat, support local businesses, and access beneficial resources. As a nonprofit program, the market is led by and for the community.
