‘Health Before Wealth’ rally planned for this Saturday, May 17 in Des Moines to support constitution and rule of law

by EditorMay 14, 2025May 14, 2025

Local residents will gather for a peaceful rally titled “Health Before Wealth” in Des Moines this Saturday, May 17, 2025, to show support for the Constitution and the Rule of Law.

The rally, organized by the grassroots group Seniors for the Constitution, will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. at Big Catch Plaza, located at the intersection of South 216th Street and South Marine View Drive in Des Moines (map below).

Participants will be stationed on all four corners and both sides of Marine View Drive.

The event’s theme, “Health Before Wealth,” reflects the group’s message of emphasizing constitutional principles and civic engagement.

Seniors for the Constitution formed in March 2025, founded by Des Moines senior citizens seeking to promote the importance of the Constitution through rallies, workshops, and community engagement initiatives.

The group collaborates with Des Moines Indivisible, a local chapter of a national progressive advocacy network, to encourage civil dialogue during politically divided times.

Participants are required to commit to non-violence.

Poster-making supplies will be provided, along with a limited supply of pre-made signs for use during the rally.

Organizers are encouraging community members and media to attend.
