Two local Citizens’ Climate Lobby volunteers traveled to Washington, D.C., last week to urge members of Congress to support more clean energy from renewable sources.
Larry Steele, of Des Moines, and Michael Turog, of West Seattle, attended the Citizens’ Climate Lobby national conference, where they met with senators and representatives to promote wind and solar power.
“Wind and solar energy are now less expensive than oil and gas,” Steele and Turog said. “We flooded the Capitol with 850 volunteer climate lobbyists and delivered the clean energy message to members of Congress from all 50 states.”
The South Seattle Chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby meets monthly on the third Wednesday. This month’s meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the Beacon Hill branch of the Seattle Public Library and online via Teams.
The meeting follows the group’s national conference and gives South Seattle and South King County residents a way to learn more about clean energy advocacy.
