The Rotary Club of Des Moines and Normandy Park will host a presentation on Des Moines history at Noon Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, at the Des Moines Theater, and all are invited.

The program, titled “Des Moines History: Landmark on the Sound,” will feature VJ Kopacki, new Executive Director of the Des Moines Historical Society.

The presentation, which starts at Noon, will explore “the people, places and events that shaped Des Moines into the vibrant community it is today” and how local history continues to guide the community’s future, with emphasis on the historic Masonic Retirement Home.

The club said guests are welcome to attend the luncheon, fellowship gathering and presentation. More info here.
