REMINDER: The City of Des Moines will host its annual Tree Lighting Celebration this Saturday at the Des Moines Marina, featuring holiday lights, family activities and a special visit from Santa.
The event will bring residents together for a seasonal kickoff at the waterfront, with the tree scheduled to be lit at 6 p.m.
The City described the celebration as a “cozy, family friendly evening filled with holiday cheer” that will allow neighbors to gather as the holidays begin.
“This magical community tradition” will include a special appearance by Santa – by boat – the City said.
The event is open to the public and will take place outdoors at the marina, which has become a central gathering space for community events in Des Moines and surrounding South King County cities.
