The Rotary Club of Des Moines and Normandy Park this week said its 2025 Coats for Kids drive collected more than 800 coats and met the needs of students in Highline Public Schools.

In partnership with the Highline Schools Foundation, the effort also supplied coats to the Des Moines Food Bank, Pregnancy Aid and the Des Moines Police Foundation.

The Rotary Club said additional coats were distributed to support other local coat drives as well.

Organizers thanked community members who donated, hosted collection bins and helped sort and bag items for delivery.

“What a great community this is,” the club said in its announcement.

The Rotary Club offered special thanks to Local 32 Plumbers and Pipefitters for financial support, Rotary member Sandy Bohman for weeks of volunteer work collecting and sorting coats, and Todd and Michelle at the Print Place for providing storage space.

“We could not have done this without you,” the club said.
